Our History

In 1998 the seed of ALDAG was planted by a small group of parents and friends looking to develop social opportunities for young people with learning disabilities living in Ashtead. Conquerors Club was started and rapidly developed from a core group of 8 teenagers to the 35 people enjoying the club today.

Activities provided during the summer holidays followed and soon evolved into short holidays – Butlins always proving a popular choice. The next natural progression as the young people grew older was to provide work opportunities and with the support of St George’s Church, the 3 day café run in the Christian Centre was extended by ALDAG members running the café on the other 2 weekdays. The gardening project was next followed by our shop in Dorking and as we continue to grow as a charity, so do the opportunities that we can offer…..there’s more in the pipeline.
